Day One

I made this for my mom. It was my first quilt.

Hi I have finally figured out something I can blog about. I love to do crafts. They keep me busy because my disability has altered the things I can do. I usually am working on more than one project at a time. I do that so when bored with one thing or if I need help from someone else I am still doing something. I never work on one thing at a time.

Lately I have been quilting a lot. I have been wanting  to learn something new for a while. My disability makes going to collage or classes out side my home really difficult. It would be to much for me to try and do. Confidence is not my high point right now. I always wanted to learn to make beautiful quilts. But  I cant deal with weight of the large sections. Thanks to my mother who taught me to quilt as you go.  I am now making quilts and having a great time. She taught me how to quilt as you go. So instead of working on a huge piece I can quilt in small bites. I have been having a blast with it. so I am also working on a block quilt.  I am using Craftsy to learn how to quilt properly. I am using the free classes they have and have learned a lot already. Oh by the way I learned a valuable lesson last week. If you have a disability that makes your arms shake be very careful with a rotary cutter. It will even cut through your fingernail. So don't use the cutter while shaking it is a bad idea trust me. LOL I learned the hard way but I am stubborn. I finished this quilt on Monday past. It is called the window pane quilt. It was a lot of fun.

I got a embroidery sewing machine for Xmas this year. Oh boy is that fun. I got embroidery patterns from www.Urbanthreads.com.Oh boy I love that site. My favorite patterns I got from there. Steampunk carousal animals. The idea was to make myself a quilt with the steampunk carousal animals I was embroidering But my youngest grand daughter feel in love with them. She liked them so much she carried the seahorse square with her.  Her mom says she carries it around a lot. So just like every good Grammy I am making her my quilt. This is the first square for her quilt.

I also love to crochet and cross stitch. I love to make thses very cute crocheted dolls. I bought a ton of the heads years ago. I am glad I did they dont sell them any more. But I enjoy making theem. I finally designed one myself a few months ago. I will show you it next time.
